Tickets to Berlin
full fare direct way to Berlin
full fare to Berlin via Schwerin
full fare on ICE InterCityExpress high speed trains to Berlin
Super-Saver-Ticket (Sparpreis) for one-way ICE InterCityExpress high-speed-train

You will not need all these tickets, subject...

1. you want full flexibility and just want to have one ticket in your hand without thinking more than necessary...

2. your ship is arriving so early that you can go by ICE InterCityExpress high-speed-train to Berlin and maybe back as well.

For all who wants to go Berlin as economic as possible should stop to read and check for the group day passes.

The best way to buy is the Internet:

http://www.bahn.de/i/view/DEU/en/index.shtml

So can do it three monthes ahead of your day of travel until 10 minutes before scheduled departure.

To avoid problems with special German letters:

ä, ö, ü = ae, oe, ue
ß = ss

So your place of origin is Warnemuende.

Your destination is Berlin Hbf (= Hauptbahnhof = Central Station).

Your date of travel: DD.MM.YYYY (!!!)

Your expected time of travel: HH:MM (24-hours-style, best 45 minutes after ship's arrival in Warnemünde)

Return journey:

Your date of travel: DD.MM.YYYY (!!!)

Your expected time of travel: HH:MM (24-hours-style, 90 minutes before ship's departure in Warnemünde or just as you wish - like here 6 pm)

No. of Adults. Children 6-14 are travelling free if they are on the ticket. Children 0-5 are travelling free but do not need to be shown on the tickets.

No BahnCard as you will not have any 1-year-discount-pass for your once-in-your-lifetime travel.

Travel 2nd class if you want to go the most economic way and do not need extra comfort. The difference of 1st and 2nd class is presented here:
http://heinbloed-cruiseguides.blogspot.com/2009/01/warnemunde-train-1st-class-vs-2nd-class.html

And then Search.

As there is more then one stop in Warnemünde. You got this warning. Your station's name is just

Warnemünde.

So you just confirm by click on Search.

The system show you three options around 07.00 hrs:

1st option: Direct ICE InterCityExpress high speed-train from Warnemünde to Berlin
= Full Fare Tickets
= One-Way Tickets, subject you have selected "Single journey"

This is interesting if your ship arrives at 6 am in Warnemünde (Monday-Friday) and Saturday 8 am. Sunday there is no ICE InterCityExpress-service to Berlin. For your plannings: Return daily except Saturday.

If you use ICE InterCityExpress only for one way, i. e. from Warnemünde to Berlin OR from Berlin to Warnemünde: then it's better and cheaper to buy one-way-ticket instead of return tickets!!! So do not forget to select "Single journey" if you plan to go only one-way with the ICE InterCityExpress .

If you use ICE InterCityExpress for both ways, i.e. from Warnemünde to Berlin and the same train back to Warnemünde: then you should know that there are very nice Saver-Tickets when you are travelling with two, three, four or five persons.

Explaination scroll below in orange.

Let's explain the 3rd option before 2nd option because the majority will go the direct way to Berlin which is 2nd option:

3rd option: Commuter Trains (S-Bahn) to Warnemünde and Regional Trains from Rostock to Berlin via Schwerin
= Full Fare Ticket on Regional Trains

Explaination scroll below in blue.

2nd option: Commuter Trains (S-Bahn) to Warnemünde and Regional Trains from Rostock to Berlin (direct way)
= Full Fare Ticket on Regional Trains

So you just click Choose return trip in the second line.

Then you have to select your return journey:

1st option is the train most cruisers will use to be back in Warnemünde around dinner time.

2nd option is the ICE InterCityExpress High-Speed-Train service direct to Warnemünde.

3rd option is the late service if your train is leaving after 11 pm from Warnemünde.

So select "Purchase" in the first line.

The full fare price will be 71.80 EUR + 1 day-pass for Berlin 6.10 EUR = 77.90 EUR (2010)

If you are willing to buy upto three different tickets you can go for

37.00 EUR (2010) on Saturday or Sunday if you travel alone
7.40 EUR (2010) on Saturday or Sunday if you travel in a party of 5

You can buy the tickets for Berlin in the station building but due to limited opening hours and language skills let me explain you how to operate the ticket machines which you find after you get up the stairs and reached the station area. The Ländertickets are available here as well, but the price here is higher than in the ticket machines.

UPDATE: August 2009

Both machines have been upgraded to the newest generation which accepts cash and German Bankcards for destinations like Rostock and Bad Doberan and international credit cards for all other destinations as well:

So the new function is the acceptance of Euro-Change and Euro-Bills (max. amount vary to your individual total amount).

Full Fare Tickets are available at this machine.
